In a restaurant in Phuket, Thailand, 5G cloud-based multi-task robots lead guests to their tables to order, and then serve the dishes to them. These robots are made by CloudMinds Robotics, a Shanghai-based tech company which started its cooperation with Thailand's digital service provider in 2019.

Chinese telecom operators have invested more than 400 billion yuan ($59.4 billion) into 5G so far, driving a cumulative economic output of about 8.56 trillion yuan, which highlights the robust role that new network infrastructure plays in buoying economic growth, experts said.

With notable progress made in China's pursuit of computing power, or the ability to process data, a solid foundation has been laid for its transition to a digital economy. The country's total computing power scale now ranks second in the world, according to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT). By the end of June, the number of data center racks in use topped 5.9 million, and that of servers reached nearly 20 million in China.

Northeast China's Suifenhe port has seen bustling freight train services as China continues to deepen economic and trade ties with countries and regions along the Belt and Road. The key port on the China-Russia border handled 462 China-Europe freight train trips in the first seven months of this year, surging 72.4 percent year-on-year, according to Suifenhe customs in Heilongjiang province.
