Shanghai's tourism market is booming on the first day of the National Day holiday. More than 150 attractions across the city received a combined 950,000 visits as of 3pm on Thursday, the first day of the holiday, soaring 110 percent from the same day last year.

Domestic tourism has shown strong recovery on the first day of the National Day holiday period, which started on Thursday. About 97 million visits were made to domestic attractions over the day, about 74 percent of the total visits made over same period in 2019, according to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

Passengers traveling through Florida's Tampa International Airport starting Thursday can take a rapid coronavirus test, officials said, claiming to be the first US airport to offer such tests. In this pilot program customers can pay $57 for a 15-minute antigen test, or $125 for a molecular PCR test, which takes longer but is widely considered more precise, airport officials said.

China plans to incorporate more regions into its system for the settlement of standard medical fees later in the year, on the back of experience drawn from 12 pilot areas, according to an official circular. This will mark a step closer to the preliminary operation of a bona fide national medical-information platform by the end of 2021, which would enable patients across the country to seek treatment in places other than designated locations and settle their expenses on the spot.

Amazon on Thursday said that slightly more than 19,800 of its employees have tested positive for Covid-19 since the start of March. Data on the e-commerce giant's 1.37 million frontline workers, including those at its Whole Foods Market grocery stores in the United States, showed a lower infection rate than expected, Amazon said.

The Chinese mainland reported 10 new imported COVID-19 cases Thursday, bringing the total number of imported cases to 2,875, the National Health Commission said Friday. Of the new imported cases, three were reported in Sichuan, two each in Fujian and Guangdong, and one each in Shanghai, Chongqing and Shaanxi, the commission said in its daily report.
