China Railway 24th Bureau Group Corp Ltd (CR24), which is building the Shanghai-Chongqing-Chengdu High-speed Railway together with other major infrastructure builders, including units from China Communications Construction Co Ltd and China Railway Group Ltd, said its construction teams completed the tunneling project on the railway on Thursday.

The Central Bank of Brazil announced on Friday that the Chinese currency renminbi, or the yuan, has surpassed the euro to become the country's second-largest international reserve currency. According to the "International Reserve Management Report" released by the central bank on its official website, the increase of the RMB's share in Brazil's international exchange reserves reflects the deepening economic ties between Brazil and its largest trading partner -- China.

China's manufacturing sector expanded for the third straight month in March while non-manufacturing activity grew at the fastest pace in recent years, data from the National Bureau of Statistics showed on Friday. The official purchasing managers index for China's manufacturing sector stood at 51.9 in March, down from 52.6 in February but still marking the second-highest level in almost two years, the NBS said.
