China's scientific community will expand cooperation with countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative in the name of high-quality development and improving livelihoods, experts said during the second annual meeting of the Forum on High Quality Development of the Belt and Road Initiative on Sunday. They added that climate change, environmental protection, clean energy, the digital economy, public health, the transfer of technology and professional training are some areas in which BRI countries can benefit from more robust international cooperation.

As of last year, China's transportation network has grown to cover more than 6 million kilometers, the minister of transport said recently. From 2018 to 2022, China's transportation sector saw investments of 17 trillion yuan ($2.44 trillion) in fixed assets, Minister Li Xiaopeng said at a news conference on Thursday. China's railway network covers 155,000 km, of which 42,000 km are high-speed railways, accounting for more than two-thirds of the world's high-speed railways.

The Ningxia Hui autonomous region has strengthened its support for employment by creating 79,500 new urban jobs and transferring 823,000 rural workers out of farming last year, according to the region's human resources and social security department. "Last year, we maintained the overall stability of employment, " said Xiao Shengqin, deputy director of the department.

A conference was held between China's Yunnan provincial department of commerce and the Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency under the Ministry of Industry and Trade on Friday to strengthen cooperation in a wide range of economic, investment and trade issues. As bilateral trade between Vietnam and China is well on the way to recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic, there has never been a better time to hold such a dialogue, said Vu Ba Phu, head of the Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency.

China has contributed USD 1.42 million in funding to promote APEC cooperation including advancing’s trade and investment initiatives, particularly for efforts to advance free trade, promote global value chains’ development and cooperation, enhance regional connectivity and promote innovative development, economic reform and growth.

The world's first large-capacity battery hybrid propulsion and two-way navigation luxury Ropax ship will leave Guangzhou, Guangdong province, for Europe within the week. The ship, the P&O Pioneer, built by Guangzhou Shipyard International Co (GSI) for Britain's P&O Ferries, will operate between Britain's Port of Dover and France's Port of Calais in the English Channel in the months to come.

Tibet recently signed agreements on 11 cultural and tourism projects with enterprises from Guangdong province during an investment promotion conference held in Guangzhou, Guangdong province, People's Daily reported. The projects are expected to have an investment totaling 6.84 billion yuan (around $1 billion), according to the report on Monday.

A cargo plane carrying grapes and plums from Chile landed at Changsha Huanghua International Airport in Changsha, Hunan province, on Saturday. It was the first time the province imported fresh fruit this year via the international flight route through Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
