China's software industry reported a 9.8-percent year-on-year increase in business revenue in the first eight months of the year, according to official data.Revenue of this sector totaled 6.44 trillion yuan (about $907.07 billion) from January to August, data from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology shows.

Most of the capital goods monitored by the Chinese government posted lower prices in late September compared with mid-September this year, official data showed Sunday. Of the 50 major goods monitored by the government, which include seamless steel tubes, gasoline, coal, fertilizer and some agricultural products mainly used for processing, 22 saw their prices increase, while 23 posted lower prices, according to the National Bureau of Statistics.

Starbucks opened its 1,000th Shanghai outlet on Sept 28. The new store, which is also the company's 6,000th in the Chinese mainland, is located in Shanghai Lippo Plaza, the same building where the coffee chain operator opened its first store in the city more than two decades ago.

A group of digital models dressed in sports outfits strutted down the runway in an online virtual fashion show during China Fashion Week in September. Led by Xijiajia, tech company Baidu Inc's virtual spokesperson, they presented the latest garments by homegrown sportswear maker Anta Sports in different virtual scenarios — stadiums, snowfields, the Gobi Desert and even outer space.
